New York Film Festival

This upcoming Friday the New York film festival will be presenting their 50th edition with the world premiere of Ang Lee's awards "Life of Pi". The festival will be premiering many top movie titles such as "Flight" by Robert Zemeckis and "Not Fade Away" by David Chase's. Richard Pena has directed New York's Film Festivals since 1988, he was always open to promote obscure work if he felt it was worthy like Iranian and Chinese Cinema. Critics state "Richard Pena has become the world's most prestigious- even if it is". Many film makers are looking forward in attending this film festival. Richard Pena also comments about him being happy about moving on and trying out other things.

The article is based on the event that will be taking place in New York on September 28, 2012 the New York Film Festival. Richard Pena the director of the festival will be honor for all his hard work that he's put in for the last 25 years. This article is important because it is a huge event that makes headlines world wide, every film maker wants to be involved in this event. This impacts me as a student  because I get to see what's the fuss in the entertainment industry and how little films come up to big screen movies. As a future filmmaker this catches my attention and shows that this where I should be to get inspired by all these creative directors, as a consumer I'm sure many want to be involved in the event because it's something you can invest your money in and make a large profit out of it. My questions is, what are the concerns of the directors attending the festival.

You Go Korea !

Every two years an international film festival is held, and it's going to be taking place in North Korea. Koreans are going to get to see many foreign films from Germany, Britain, Spain, Middle East. and practically from everywhere except America. For the picture displayed is a shot of one of the films that are going to be featured called "Comrade Kim Goes Flying" and another film that many are looking forward to is "Meet in Pyongyang" which is part of a Nort Korean- European production that worked with a Chinese studio. Who would of known Korea is film crazy. This recent year, leader King Jong II died in December and he actually loved films. In a interview Choe acknowledge that the main purpose of North Korea cinema is propaganda,  Choe Hung Ryol is a well known director in Korea.

The article is based on an international foreign film festival taking place in Korea where basically all these other countries group up except America. I chose this article because I think foreign movies are awesome and Korea isn't the first country that comes to mind when I think about films and that's great for them to expose their creativeness. I'm impacted as a student because not only am I learning of activities that go on in America but also around the country and I get to learn about foreign director like Choe Hung Ryol. I believe America should be part of this as well.

Who is director Sam Bacile ?

Wonder what's all the fuss about socal director going by the name of Sam Bacile? According to news there is no real Sam Bacile, he is actually a 52 year old Israeli American real estate developer. "Sam" had made a 14 minute clip in July of "The Innocence of Muslims" Egyptian media starting showing it off on air. He's film was disrespecting muslims based about a religious leader being gay etc. He wasn't even muslim, he is egyptian. The film feuded many muslims. Protesters starting doing attacks which many believe that leaded to the murder of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens. Nihad Awad, national executive director of the washing based council stated "Those who created this trashy film do not represent the people of America or the Christian faith. The only proper response to intentional provocations such as this film is efforts o promote mutual understanding between faiths and to marginalize extremists of all stripes." Sam went missing (hiding) after U.S. Consulate attack.

I chose this article because it caught my attention of being practically all over the news making headlines how this was so erotic and pretty much is the reason why our Ambassador J. Christopher has been murdered and this takes a big part in our country as Americans. This impacts me as a student because this shows how any message can be send out, positive or negative it is easy to access and publish through internet and be seen everywhere and affect many. I wonder how ignorant the cast must have been if many of them are saying how they had a feeling he wasn't even muslim and they were suspicious of the socal director  "Sam Bacile".

Fifty Shades of Grey

Fifty Shades of Grey has come around all over the world. The well known novel has sold 40 million copies worldwide, the book has been sold in 37 countries! The novel set a record as one of the fastest selling book of all time. A lot of production companies such like Warner Bros. , Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures, and Paramount put bids for the films rights. Directors like Mike De Luca and Dana Brunettie from the Social Network are assigned to direct the film, the producers were signed by the Author of Fifty Shades of Grey E.L. James. Many well known actors are willing to cast on the film for example there are rumors of Ryan Gosling playing Christian Grey and Lucy Hale playing Anastasia.

I myself have actually read the novel, all my close friends were talking about it all the time and it always seemed to appear on a lot of talk shows and it's like "The Book" to read. I was hooked on the novel, I think it's amazing that their coming out with an actual movie for this book. I'm sure this film is going to be a huge hit. This event doesn't really effect me in any way but I've seen on talk shows that this book has effected and brought sparks back into many couples who have lost their connection with their partner and now this book took a big part in their relationship and actually brought them closer and helped them in many ways emotionally and physically. This article effects me as a student to see that reading should be a huge priority because it's going to help you along the way in pursuing the entertainment industry, writing and reading can help you create a story or build an imagination in your head and it'll make you more of a creative film maker.
