Do you still find me frightening ?

The film Paranormal Activity is based on supernatural events. This is the fourth film in the Paranormal Activity series. Top critic Joe Neumair from New York Daily News states "of course, a promise of more activity to come. But unless moviegoers think it's worth watching another whole cast of characters sleep while their furniture moves around them, only diehard fans will stay awake for that next entry. " As I research over this new movie, I find it easier to find negative comments on the film. People don't seem to be thrilled as they were three series before this upcoming "4".  Critic's are not expecting paranormal to make top box office but they believe the series takes a steady income. Paranormal Activity will have competition with the film "Sinister".

I choose this article because as a viewer, I've watched practically all the paranormal activity movies but from watching the third one I was loosing the thrill I used to have for those movies. What caught my attention to even write about this was that I was finding a lot of negative comments regarding the film. It seemed to me that not only I am a bit tired of all these series but so are other people as well.

This impacts me as a student because films like these focus more on a young audience, due to teenagers going out more than adults. As a future filmmaker this makes me realize that you have to pay attention to your feed back from your audience, change things up a bit and improve. As a consumer, you should step up your game, if your bringing all these series to the plate might as well make some changes don't bore your audience.

I wonder if the producers think the way they set up their series are not "too similar". I'm curious how they brainstorm their ideas and if they rely on the audience's opinion. I would like to know if there is a possible chance for "Paranormal Activity 5"?

  1. Well, even though it is getting negative reviews, Paranormal is the kind of series where they can keep on making more movies on it. Practically, people will go to watch for the scare even if it does get repetitive. I too find it's to similar to each though since the characters don't seem to connect to the audience and thus the viewers don't have a recognizable face to lean on. I agree with how you said they should step up on their game though, there is still competition after all.

  2. This is just another form of the industry milking things for all they can. It's a huge moneymaker, but I disagree with making brainless films for nothing except profit. Next time, filmmakers? Create something new!

  3. I have also watched all three series before and I agree with you, they should try to create something new. Maybe a twist ending will have a more positive effect on the film.
