who's your daddy?

The question is, who is going to take over the box office? Critics are saying that Taken 2 will be expected to make $45 million and $50 million according to pre-seen release audience surveys. The distributer itself is lowering the expected income of the movie down to $35 million "Twentieth Century Fox".  Taken 2 is practically Tim Burton's black and white film "Frankenweenie" competition. When the original Taken was released in 2009, it made a surprising hit, bringing in $24.7 million on a Super Bowl weekend.

This article is based on who is going to top of the charts in box office. Taken 2, Frankenweenie, and Transylvania are going to be released around the same date. Critics are expecting Taken 2 to make another hit and out due Tim Burton's film (Frankenweenie). It's been all based on a pre- seen release audience survey.

I chose this article because I'm a big fan of the original film TAKEN. The film was outstanding and full with action, I've watched this movie over at least five times and I'm still not tired of it. Knowing there's a part 2 coming out I'm excited to watch it and see what the french director Oliver Megaton brings to the table. What caught my eye was that there is a chance that the film will make more in box office then the Tim Burton's film "Frankenweenie".

This impacts me as a consumer because being in the entertainment industry you need to be very logical of how you handle your money. Budget takes a big part in the film industry, every film needs lot's of investment in order create the big picture you visualize in your head. At the end you do make a profit, I believe. Taken 2 is expected to make at least from $45-$50 million in box office, that's a lot!

My question is, who will make the most ? I also wonder, what happen;s when a film doesn't make it's expected value. Does it impact the whole production team ? I'm sure many are excited to view this upcoming films.

  1. Looks like these people were right! Frankenweenie is already getting crushed by Taken 2. I am not a big fan of Tim Burton, so I am a little happy about this. It's interesting to see that people were already expecting Frankenweenie to lag before it even began to lag.

  2. The first Taken was a big success so having Taken take out Frankenweenie isn't much of a surprise. I haven't seen any of them but I am going to in the future and I will be see who truly should be on top, in my eyes.
